So the day dawned rainy and a bit foggy, but when you only have limited days you make the best of what you are dealt. So off to the Ring of Kerry we go.
Now, just recently introduced to driving on the left side of the road is one thing, but lets throw in some fog, rain and misty conditions for the fun of it.
3 left turns and we are off to a great start, not so much. Should have been 2 left turns and a right turn. Back on track and the day is not going to be a mix of cloud, fog, rain and a few sunny patch just for good measure.
We are very excited to do this drive today even if the weather is not going to cooperate. The views are spectacular when the visibility is there.
The rain lets up as we head out on our journey for the day. Winding roads and rainbows line the route through Kerry. The Streams, fields of lush green pastures are around every corner. And there is always time to pet a dog on a donkey!
The sun breaks through and we get to see some of the coast from above. Found our way down to Skellig and even got to see Wolf Island where Luke Skywalker was hiding out. I think I saw an X-Wing Starfighter fly by.
Through Ballybrack, Castlecove and up to Sneem for lunch and you guessed it, another pint. Who knew that there would be a man with a long horn goat just sitting around in the rain, gotta love Ireland.
A pint of Guinness and Lamb Stew with the locals and we are off again on the final leg of the journey back to the hotel.
Back into Killarney that evening for the best Rack of Lamb we have had in a while, (sorry no pics of the lamb, I devoured it before I thought of taking a shot).
Tomorrow we pack up and head toward Dingle, with a few stops along the way.
